The book goes through numerous standard configuration and operation sequences in enough detail that you can learn a lot about the inner workings of a VMware. Read this a few times and if you come across something in real life that wasn't covered, you can reset assured that a "Google" is called for.

This book contained too much command line information. Not really for someone who needs the step by step basics and best practices of setting up VMWare.

I have been an avid VMware ESXi user since 3.5, as it facilitates rapid ad hoc prototyping and testing work.
